1. What we shipped
I’ve been yapping on about collaborative whiteboards for what feels like forever, but this week I finished the new code. While we didn’t ship anything to Kanka itself, I did install and set up the new “websocket” servers which will power the whole collaborative part of whiteboards and allow live-updates.
Spitfire/Itza has also been super busy for the past 2 weeks working on CSV importers. These will allow people to import their existing worlds faster into Kanka when they find out about the best collaborative worldbuilding platform there is!
2. What we’re working on next
Our current focus is battle-testing and fixing any issues with the new whiteboards, csv importers, and characters having multiple locations.
3. Behind the scenes
We’ve committed to our quarterly bets for Q1 2026 that we recently mentioned. We’re still figuring out what’s the best format to communicate them (blog? roadmap? YouTube video so you know we haven’t been fully replaced by AI avatars? Spotify 2h long podcast?) but hope to have something out before the end of the month.
We’re also finalising the details to bring back our monthly worldbuilding challenges, The first challenge will go live on Monday the 2nd of February with a similar but new format from what we had back during Covid.
Hopefully you enjoyed this little peek at what we’re working on. We plan to keep these short but frequent. If you want even more tea on upcoming updates, consider joining our Discord.
