Kanka 1.19 pin organisation members

Kanka 1.19 – Pin organisation members, membership status, and more

Dear Kanka users, our last release of the year is here. With this release, we are adding a way to pin organisation members to both characters and organisations.

Pin organisation members

We’ve added a new way to pin organisation members. When creating or editing an organisation member, you can select in which entity the membership is displayed.

We’ve also added a way to define if a character is an active, inactive, or of unknown membership in an organisation.

Lots of smaller improvements

The Kanka admin team can set a featured public campaign text. This way, we can explain why a campaign is being featured, for example for a worldbuilding prompt winner.

For our CSS wizards, posts on an entity have a new data property defining the visibility of the post. This allows you to customise the look and feel of a post only visible to admins. The same property (data-visibility or data-private) is also available to pinned elements.

When viewing the relationship explorer, clicking on an entity opens that entity’s relation explorer with the same filters as used (relations, relations + related, etc).

The campaign json export includes more data. It now includes an entity’s abilities, reminders, files and tags. Maps now also include their layers, groups, and markers.

Marketplace improvements

A marketplace’s attribute template will inject all the non-multiline text attributes as css variables with --attribute-{name}={value}. Note that the value is the raw value, so no calculations.

The @foreach loop is available with the $attributes variable.

Lastly, the API endpoints for entities now gives back gallery image information (both for the image and the header) and allows setting the gallery images.

And of course, bug fixes!

Fixed a sneaky bug in the relation explorer. When viewing it in anything else then British English, it didn’t load as many relations.

When bulk editing entities, the dropdowns can be written in again. Various fields also had the wrong labels (for example bulk editing a character showed “parent race”).

A long lasting annoying bug with the text editor and mentions on Firefox has been fixed!

More refactoring

Last update saw a huge database refactoring of Kanka. This update continues that, touching the huge entities table. This changes nothing for you (other than a slight speed improvement in the APIs), but makes my life a lot easier. It also removes some old third party plugins that were blocking me from updating parts of Kanka.

That’s it for 1.19! We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed working on it! If you missed 1.18, head over to the release notes.

As always, thank you to our amazing subscribers who make these frequent updates possible. Come join us and our community on our Discord server!
